Harue Pfeiffer
MIDDLETOWN - Harue (Yotsumoto) Pfeiffer,

88, wife of George E. Pfeiffer (deceased) died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI.
Mrs. Pfeiffer was born in Japan. She met and married her husband in Japan while he was stationed there on naval duty. They moved to the United States in 1958, settling on Aquidneck Island.
She will be remembered by friends and family as someone who loved to have a good time. She would entertain guests and family at her home on Third Beach Road, especially in the summer. She would prepare gourmet Japanese cuisine as well as American BBQ. Her home was surrounded by exquisite gardens which she maintained with great care and expertise. In her younger days she enjoyed pets of various kinds, birds, dogs and even pigs to name a few. It was not uncommon for Harue and her friends to have late night Japanese card games or go shopping to New York or New Jersey for the day. Also in her younger days she enjoyed hunting, and fishing, with her family. She was gracious, kind and generous to all who have crossed her life path.
She is survived by her children, Dennis M. Pfeiffer of Jacksonville, NC, Donald G. Pfeiffer of Middletown, RI, Virginia K Pfeiffer of Fayetteville, AR and Lena J Mahler of Sandwich, MA, and her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as many in-laws and nieces and nephews in Indiana. Also, she leaves a sister and niece in Japan.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012, from 9-11 a.m., in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with her funeral to follow at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
