Beverly R. Malone
PORTSMOUTH - Beverly R. Malone,

56, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital Tuesday, October 18, 2011 after a courageous battle against cancer. Her family comforted her as she departed to be present with the Lord. Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad on February 17, 1955, she is the daughter of Carlton King and Janet (Salazar) King of Dorchester, MA.
Beverly lived a life wrapped in the love of family, friends, and faith. She spent her early life in Trinidad before moving with her family to Boston, MA at the age of 18. In May of 1977, she met her husband Azell, and they joined in marriage soon thereafter. Beverly and Azell began their family in New Jersey before three moves that brought them to their last wonderful home in Portsmouth, RI. It was an ideal location where they could raise their three children close to her family in Boston. As the children grew older and it was evident that her lessons to them on independence took hold, Beverly began employment as an Accounting Clerk, working for several local businesses including Quaker Fabric, Blackstone Catering, Hinckley Yachts, and Roger Williams University. Away from her work life, she took great joy in growing beautiful gardens, making a warm home, and being a dedicated friend to many. Beverly was full of spirit and touched the lives of numerous people with her vibrant smile, endless energy, and generosity. She maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her devotion, warmth, and love she gave them.
Her husband Azell Malone Jr., her parents Carlton and Janet King, two daughters, Kimberly Malone of Fall River and Portsmouth, Kristin Malone of Brooklyn and Portsmouth, and a son Darren Malone of Newport survive Beverly. Her sisters Elizabeth Mitchel, Marilyn King, Althea Hankey, and Allison Lawrence, and a brother Sean King, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews also survive her.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Family Life Fellowship Church, 28 Arlington Street, Hyde Park, MA (www.flfhp.org).
Her funeral service will be on Saturday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth, RI.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 1 St. Jude Place Building, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38105.
