Kenneth H. Taylor
JAMESTOWN - Kenneth Howard Taylor,
89, of Maple Avenue, Jamestown, RI, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at South County Hospital in South Kingstown, RI.
Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late William C. and Jessie E. (Corbin) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor served as Postal Sergeant in the US Army with the 366th Infantry Regiment during World War II. He was a Deacon Emeritus at Community Baptist Church in Newport and a member of the King Solomon Lodge. During his life, Kenneth worked as a Management Analyst and Analytical Statistician at the Naval Air Rework Facility at Quonset Point. He also served as Administrative Officer for the Rhode Island National Guard and Assistant Administrative Officer for the State of Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby (Williams) Taylor; his son, Kenneth S. Taylor; two daughters, Holly S. Perkins of San Jose, CA and Paula E. Oliver of St. Petersburg, FL; two brothers, William C. Taylor III of Providence, RI and Stuart (Ernestine) Taylor of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Joyce Hall of Providence, RI; grand and great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
His sister, Joan Babers, predeceased him.
His funeral will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport, RI. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedar Cemetery in Jamestown.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 10-11 a.m. in Community Baptist Church.
