MIDDLETOWN - James J. Carney,
74, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
He was the husband of Kathleen (Tabrum) Carney.
Born in Newport, RI on January 26, 1937, he was the son of the late James and Loretta (Silvia) Carney.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, James A. Carney of Marlborough, CT, Colleen A. Karpovitz and her husband Thomas of Middletown, RI, and Michael P. Maloney and his wife Barbara of Providence, RI, his brothers, John “Skip” Carney and Joseph “Mickey” Carney both of Middletown, RI, his grandchildren, Shannon Pereira and her husband Jason of Pawtucket, RI, Sean Maloney of Providence, RI, Katrina Karpovitz of Middletown, RI and Katie Maloney of Providence, RI, and his great-grandson Dylan Karpovitz.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011, from 4-7:00 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
Burial will be private.
