MIDDLETOWN - Mary Russell Whalon,
89, passed away to the loving hands of God on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Forest Farm Nursing Center in Middletown.
She was the wife of the late Edward Whalon and the late Harold F. Russell.
Mary was a Resident Director of Newport Hospital School of Nursing and a receptionist at Forest Farm.
Her family is comforted in knowing she lived a gracious and fruitful life and received the most loving and exceptional care, in her final years, by the staff of Forest Farm Nursing Center.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. Augustin Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.
Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Mary’s family acknowledges her love of cats by respectfully requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts please may be sent to the Potter League for Animals, P.O. Box 412, Newport, RI 02840 or to the Forest Farm Nursing Center, 193 Forest Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.
