PORTSMOUTH - Antone A. Pavao,
90, of Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
He was the husband of Deolinda (Garcia) Pavao.
Born in Tiverton, RI on January 31, 1921, he was the son of the late Caetano and Isabella (Soares) Pavao.
Before retiring, he was employed by Manchester & Wheeler of Tiverton, RI and Aquidneck Lobster of Newport, RI. He is a member of Teamsters Local #526.
Antone was a WWII Army veteran.
He leaves behind seven children, Barbara Miranda and Nancy Mello of Tiverton, Elaine Cooper of Orange, Texas, Pauline Skitzki and Linda Pendleton of Portsmouth, Diane Robert of Warwick, and John Pavao of Fryeburg, Maine. He also leaves behind 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Anthony Pavao and Kathleen (Pavao) Silvia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norman Bird Sanctuary, 583 Third Beach Road, Newport, RI 02840 or the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 806, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
