NEWPORT - Paula Tonkonogy Smith,
80, of Newport, RI, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011.
She was the wife of the late Irving Smith.
She was the beloved mother of Gary Smith of Newport, RI, and the late David Smith, and the loving sister of the late Jason S. Tonkonogy of Newton, MA.
She was the daughter of the late Mordecai and Rosemond (Hendel) Tonkonogy.
Paula will be remembered for her loving spirit and her creative and artistic energy.
Besides her son Gary, Paula is survived by her many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:30 a.m., at Beth Olam Cemetery, Wyatt Road, Middletown. A Prayer Service will take place Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Touro Synagogue, Touro Street, Newport.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paula’s memory to Touro Synagogue-Congregation Jeshuat Israel, 85 Touro Street, Newport, RI 02840.
