PORTSMOUTH - Anthony Joseph DeSantis,
71, of Young Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, April 25, 2011.
He was the husband of Kathleen M. Murphy of Portsmouth, RI
Born in Newport, RI on May 2, 1939, he was the son of the late Leonard J. and Evelyn (Keeley) DeSantis.
Mr. DeSantis was a member of the Wanumetonomy Golf Club in Middletown.
He graduated from De La Salle in 1956, before enlisting in the United States Navy. After his military duty he owned and operated the Franklin Spa while attending Providence College. After college he went to work for Sperry-Univac, which later became Unisys. He worked there for over 25 years, most recently as their Director of Marketing.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen M. Murphy of Portsmouth, RI, his daughter Kristen DeSantis of Ashburn, Virginia; his three sisters Leona Fulkerson of Louisville, KY, Patricia Ludwig and her husband Donald of Portsmouth, RI, and JoAnne Laos of Pittsburgh, PA; his grandson, Connor DeSantis of Ashburn, VA; his uncle, Joseph Keeley of Middletown, RI, and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011, at 10:00am, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
