Rose Prescott
NEWPORT - Rose (Jaffe) Prescott,
age 99, a longtime resident of Gibbs Avenue, Newport, died on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Epoch East Side in Providence.
She was born on March 19, 1911, the daughter of the late Max and Bertha Jaffe and was married to the late Edward Prescott with whom she owned Jaffe Drug in Newport for over 50 years.
She was a sister of the late Dr. Alfred and Harry Jaffe; mother of Dr. Gary Prescott of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Dr. Marvin Prescott of Los Angeles, CA; and a loving grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Cited as an outstanding student at Rogers High School where she graduated in 1927, she was blessed with great intellectual curiosity and pursued a lifetime of learning. She loved gardening and playing the piano. She was a lifelong member of Touro Synagogue and Hadassah.
Funeral Services will be private.
Arrangements are with the Chevra Kadisha Association of Newport County.
