PORTSMOUTH - Jeanne K. Peck,
78, of Bancroft Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Newport Hospital.
She was the wife of Francis D. Peck.
Born in Newport on May 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph O’Neill Murphy and Helen (Conheeney) Murphy-Taylor, and stepdaughter of the late Edward L. Taylor.
Jeanne was educated in Rhode Island, Maryland and New Jersey. She was a graduate of Rogers High School, class of 1949 and the former Katharine Gibbs School. Her entire career was in government service. She was a supervisor at the Naval Supply Center and the Naval Education and Training Center, both in Newport. She was the recipient of numerous outstanding awards and letters of commendation. She enjoyed the beach and was a frequent walker there. She was also an avid reader and traveler.
In addition to her husband, her beloved daughter Patricia J. Kelleher of Placerville, CA survives her.
She was the beloved mother of the late Colleen Marie Kelleher.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 9 a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial at Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth.
Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
