MIDDLETOWN - William F. Cormier,
81, of Balsam Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.
He was the husband of Barbara J. (Champlin) Cormier.
Born in Lawrence, MA on May 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank X. and Grace (Clay) Cormier.
Mr. Cormier moved to Pascoag as a child. He was a 1957 graduate of URI. After college he worked for Kodak in Rochester then came back to Rhode Island where he started work for Honeywell until he accepted a position at NUSC. For many years, he and his wife sponsored Foreign Officers at the Naval War College.
Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his son Mark C. Cormier and his wife Marian (Branz) Cormier of Broomfield, CO.
He was the father of the late Bradford William Cormier.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 from 3-6 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 1439 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Mary's Churchyard in Portsmouth.
