Erynn B. Hayward
GUAM - Erynn B. Hayward,
13, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam; passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011, while hiking at a recreation area on the base.
She was born June 19, 1997 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Lt. Col. Gary and A. Kathleen (Downs) Hayward.
Due to her fathers military career, she lived in many places, including, Clovis, NM; Colorado Springs, CO; RAF Mildenhall, UK; and Stafford, VA.
She was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and a long-time Girl Scout. She enjoyed being outdoors, taking pictures, exploring new places and donating her time as a volunteer mentoring elementary school students. She was also an avid reader and loved to play soccer.
Besides her parents, she leaves behind two sisters, Meaghan and Emily, and a brother, John. She also leaves behind her grandparents, John and Janice Hayward of Newport, RI, and her grandmother, Mrs. Jeannette B. Downs of Birmingham, AL, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Erynns life was celebrated during a funeral mass on Andersen AFB at 3:30 PM on Friday, January 21, 2011. She will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
Her family has requested donations to be made to the Erynn Hayward Memorial Fund, c/o USAA Federal Savings Bank, 10750 McDermott Freeway, San Antonio, TX 78284-8426. Funds will be used to support causes Erynn believed in, such as providing books to underprivileged children and protecting animals.
