Louis A. Vaillancourt
HARTFORD, Conn. - Louis A. Vaillancourt,
76, of Sosoa Lane, Hartford, CT, beloved husband of Donna R. (Chappell) Vaillancourt, passed away unexpectedly in Hartford Hospital on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
He was born in Taunton, MA, son of the late Louis and Evelyn (Grant) Vaillancourt.
Lou was a graduate of De La Salle Academy in Newport and served in the National Guard. He was a Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox fan.
Lou was the Owner and Operator of Vaillancourt & Assoc. He was a Communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #21 and the RI Builders Assoc. Lou was a builder for over 50 years, with many of his customers becoming lifelong friends. He kept current with changes in the industry in which he worked and continued to expand his knowledge and apply it during everyday experiences. Lou was very hands on in business and was known for his gentle heart.
In addition to his wife, Louis leaves three daughters, Karen and her husband Michael W. Miller, Donna and her husband Russell Combra, and Lynne and her husband Patrick Nevins, as well as two sons, Michael Vaillancourt and his wife Ann Marie, and Peter Vaillancourt and his wife Kelly. Nine siblings, Joan and Richard Vaillancourt, Evelyn Cayer, Lois, Paul and Peter Vaillancourt, Mary Wahl, Laura Devin and Charles Vaillancourt, survive Lou. He leaves a stepson Steven Stenhouse and his wife Jennifer. Lou loved his ten grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly, RI.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Corner of Rtes 216 & 91 in Bradford, RI. Interment will be in River Bend Cemetery, 117 Beach Street, Westerly, RI.
Donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, Church Street, Bradford, RI, in his memory.
