BRISTOL - Patricia June “Patty” Freehan,
51, of Mulberry Road, Bristol, RI passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at home surrounded by her family and those who loved her.
Born in Pittsfield, MA on October 2, 1957, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Mary A. (Murtha) Freehan.
Patty attended the Maher Center for many years, enjoying the workshop and many friends there. She participated in Special Olympics at Salve Regina University and the University of Rhode Island and won many medals in swimming, track & field and the softball throw. Patty loved to dance and laugh and brought joy to all who knew her. We will miss her bright eyes and smile.
Her sister, Mary Jane Lilley and her husband James, of Portsmouth, RI; two nephews, Christopher Lilley of Simsbury, CT and Bryan Lilley of Windsor, CT; and her Mulberry Road housemates, Lori, Caroline and Anna, survive her.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009, at 9 a.m. from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial, at 10 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba's Cemetery in Middletown.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Looking Upwards, The Maher Center or Beacon Hospice.
