JAMESTOWN - Theodore R. Carr, Sr.,
89, of Beacon Avenue, Jamestown, RI, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009 at South County Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Alice (Zukowski) Carr for 61 years.
Born in Jamestown, RI, he was a son of the late George and Hope (Higgins) Carr.
A 14-year Veteran of the US Navy, Mr. Carr served in WWII. He later worked for the Jamestown-Newport Ferry Boat and was a supervisor for the RI Bridge & Turnpike Authority before retiring.
He was a member of the American Legion Arnold Zweir Post 22 and the VFW Post 9447. He enjoyed fishing.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Theodore R. Carr, Jr. of Jamestown, RI; three daughters, Mollie Schafer of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Carr of Warwick and Lisa Brennecke of England; three brothers, Thomas Carr of ME, Perry Carr of CA and Walter “Bud” Carr of Jamestown; two sisters, Phyllis Lowell of NH and Nancy Sonne of NC; two grandchildren, Mollie L. Price and Colin Brennecke and two great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Lucy Jenkins, David, Robert and George Caleb Carr.
His funeral will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 10:15 a.m. from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, followed by a Committal Service, at 11 a.m. in the Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Exeter, RI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Jamestown EMS, P.O. Box 8, Jamestown, RI 02835 will be appreciated.
