TUCSON, Ariz. - Maceo Peter Keller,
86, of East Placita Del Escuela Drive, Tucson, AZ, formerly of Bowser Court, Newport, RI, died peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Encore Senior Village, Tucson, AZ.
He was the husband of the late Margaret (Lopes) Keller.
Born in St. Louis, MO on January 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ernestine (Anderson) Keller.
Mr. Keller graduated from Alton High School, Alton, IL, the University of Rhode Island and Bryant College. Maceo served proudly in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was employed as an aviation mechanic at Quonset Point NAS for 30 years, then for General Dynamics, New Visions and Newport County Schools.
He leaves his daughters Marcella Jenkins and her husband George and Deborah Dillard of Tucson, AZ, Nina Keller of Newport, RI, and Maria Robinson and her husband Harold of Temple Terrace, FL, nine grandchildren, Kristi Jenkins of Phoenix, AZ, Lisa Bies of Hubert, NC, Angela Jenkins of Oakland, CA, Maceo Eberhart of Newport, RI, Marcella Atwood of Brownsmills, NJ, Michelle Hill of Gibsonton, FL, Wendel Robinson of Lakeland, FL, Candace Robinson of Tampa, FL and Michael Robinson of Marietta, GA and thirteen great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009, at 9 a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.
Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
