Robert O. Stump
BRADENTON, Fla. - Robert O. Stump
passed on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the age of 79 years.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, retiring as a Senior Chief in 1970. Bob was extremely proud of his service to his country. He was stationed in Newport in 1963 and made it his families home. Bob later enjoyed working at the Newport Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital and Roger Williams University. When the Aquidneck Island winters became seemingly cold to him, he spent his winters in Bradenton, Florida and his summers either traveling, camping or in Middletown. Anyone that knew him will miss his fine sense of humor and mastery of story telling. The Red Sox and the Patriots have lost an avid fan.
Robert will be sadly missed by his son; Robert D. Stump, and his daughter; Susan Amelang. His sister Phyllis of Iowa also survives him. Bob was proud of his 6 grandchildren, Jodi, James, Casey, Robert, Christopher, Jennifer and his 4 great-grandchildren.
Passing before him was his wife Barbara Jean Stump and his daughter Linda Stump Reamy.
He will be sadly missed by his longtime friend and companion Barbara Flis, and considered the entire Flis family his family also.
All that knew Bob are welcome to a memorial service to be held at St. Columbia Chapel, Vaucluse Avenue, Middletown, Thursday, January 17, 2008, at 2 p.m.
After the clouds, the sunshine, after the winter the spring, after the shower the rainbow, for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease. After life’s cares and troubles, the comfort and sweetness of peace.
