Freelove Peterson
NORTH KINGSTOWN - Freelove Selena Peterson,
93, a life long resident of North Kingstown, RI, died peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2008, at South County Hospital with her four daughters at her side.
She was the widow of the late Capt. Paul H. Peterson.
Freelove was born March 20, 1914, in Wickford, daughter of the late Capt. Leroy H. Allen and Susan (Tourgee) Allen.
Freelove was the mother of Dianne McGowan and mother-in-law of Daniel McGowan, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband in 1984. She also was the mother of Pauline Davis of Newport, Susan Peterson-Parsons and Cynthia Carpenter, both of North Kingstown. She was the grandmother of Paul Davis, Rachel Davis and Stephanie Davis Fagan, Christina Carpenter Sevin and Erica Carpenter Carlson, and the great-grandmother of Jacob and Tyler Fagan, Ethan, Ella, and Ana Davis, and Lily and Isaac Sevin.
She was the sister of the late Leroy Allen and the late Earl Allen.
The funeral service will be at St. Pauls Church, Wickford, at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2008, followed by burial at Elm Grove Cemetery.
The calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Murphy-Cranston Funeral Home on West Main Street in Wickford.
Donations, in her memory, may be made to St. Pauls Church or to South County Hospital for Inpatient Hospice Care.
