MIDDLETOWN - Richard G. Stall Jr.,

who was proud of his many years making uniforms for several Major League teams, including his beloved Boston Red Sox, died Wednesday,December 12, 2006 after a brief illness. He was 77.
A Brockton native and a resident of Hanover for the last 37 years, Mr. Stall owned and operated Stall & Dean Company and the McAuliffe Uniform Corporation. Stall and Dean Co., a family-run business was established in 1898. Before he sold the business in 1996, Mr. Stall spent his spring times measuring, tailoring, and manufacturing the uniforms worn by many of Baseballís Hall of Famerís, including such greats as Ted Williams and Willie Mays.
Mr. Stall was considered by his many friends and neighbors to be a ďfine country gentlemenĒ and was often seen driving to car shows in one of his vintage automobiles. In fact, his sterling 1939 Cadillac Le Salle earned second place at a national competition in Lancaster, PA several years ago. Among his greatest joys was spending time with his daughter, Tobi, at horse shows around New England. He was also a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed singing in a local barbershop quartet.
Mr. Stall served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army and attended St. Georges School in Newport, Rhode Island and Hobart College as a young man.
He is survived by his daughter Tobi (Nancy) Tobin Mallinson, her husband Bill Mallinson and his only grandson Bennett Stall Mallinson of Portsmouth, RI; his sisters, Nancy Howard of Norwell, MA and Lucille Coady of Monument Beach, MA, and Walter Thomas Stall II of Wellfleet MA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Georgeís School Chapel, Purgatory Road in Middletown, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Stallís name to the Lahey Clinic, Palliative Care Fund, attn: Philanthropy Department, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805.
