MIDDLETOWN - Caroline Thelma Martins,
86, of 11 South Crest Street, Middletown, RI, died Sunday morning, March 26, 2006 at the Grand Islander Center in Middletown.
She was the wife of the late Leo Daniel Martins. Born in Newport, RI, on November 2, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Nora Cleary Sayles, both Newport natives.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Martins was involved with St. Mary's Church in Newport for many years. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church Choir, the Rosary and Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. Caroline will be remembered by family and friends for her unending devotion and love as a wife and mother, visits to those who needed company and cheer, her voice in St. Mary's Church choir and her deep love of God passing His Blessings to everyone she met.
She is survived by two daughters, Thelma C. Martins of Newport, RI and Patricia A. Martins of Tampa, Fl.
She was the sister of the late Joan Paul.
Caroline's funeral will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at 8 a.m. from the O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport, RI followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be at Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, from 4-7 p.m. in the O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport.
