NEWPORT - Nancy E. Lacey,
90, of 33 Young Street, Newport, died Wednesday morning, February 1, 2006 at the St. Clare Home in Newport.
She was the wife of the late Retired Newport Fire Captain William J. Lacey.
She was born in Newport, RI, on December 12, 1915. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Anna E. Kerin Shepley.
Nancy worked in Newport for the State of Rhode Island, working as an interviewer for the Department of Employment Security for over 22 years.
She was a graduate of Rogers High School, class of 1933. Nancy was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Newport. Her memberships include the Emblem Club, Friends of the Newport Public Library, the Edward King Senior Center and was a charter member of Gooseberry Beach in Newport.
Mrs. Lacey is survived by her sons Retired U.S. Army Colonel William J. Lacey and his wife Virginia of Alexandria, VA, James M. Lacey and his wife Michele of Middletown, RI, Richard S. Lacey and his wife Karen of Middletown, RI; seven grandchildren Jennifer Lacey, Michael Lacey, William Lacey, Kenneth Lacey, Danielle Gilman, and Chyana Lacey, Erika Lacey and great-grandmother of four.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, Feburary 4, 2006 at St. Mary's Church, Spring Street, Newport, at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be Friday, February 3, 2006 in the O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport, from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Lacey's memory to the Newport Fire Department Rescue Fund, 21 West Marlborough Street, Newport, RI 02840-2527.
