Aeriel Strutt Eweson
MIDDLETOWN - Aeriel Frazer Strutt Eweson,
longtime resident of Newport, RI, died in
Middletown, RI at the Grand Island Nursing Home on Tuesday, February 7, 2006. She was 89 years old.
Mrs. Eweson, born in Cleveland, OH, was the daughter of Joseph W. Frazer, wartime president Of Willys Overland Corp. and a co-founder of the Kaiser-Frazer Corp. She was an alumna of Foxcroft School in
Middleburg, VA and the Madame Beaudoin School in Paris.
She was married in 1934 to the late Hon. Michael Strutt of London, England, who was killed while flying for the Royal Air Force in 1941. They had one son, Joseph R. Strutt, who died in a mountain-climbing accident at an early age. Subsequently she was married to inventor Eric Eweson and the marriage ended in divorce. They produced a son, Anthony Eric Eweson, who was drowned in a boating accident in Canada.
In Newport Mrs. Eweson was a member of the Spouting Rock Beach Association and the Clambake Club. She was on the board of the Boys and Girls Club, a member of the Newport Redwood Library, and the Preservation Society of Newport.
