JAMESTOWN - Walter D. Williams II,
84, of Hamilton Avenue, Jamestown, RI, died Sunday, February 12, 2006, at Village House in Newport.
He was the husband of the late Grace M. (Nobile) Williams for 31 years.
Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Walter D. and Pearl (Cavender) Williams.
He was a graduate of Rogers High School. Mr. Williams was a US Army veteran serving in WWII.
He was the manager and shipswright for Wharton Shipyard in Jamestown and had worked for the Jamestown School Department before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Jamestown VFW Post 9447 and the Newport Rifle Club. He was a former Boys Scout and Sea Scouts Leader.
He leaves his children, Walter D. Williams III, of Coventry, Grace M. Sisson of Wood River Junction and Nancy L. Champlin of Denver, CO; a sister, Mary Jawor of Jamestown; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was a brother of the late Euguanie Fudala.
His funeral service will be held Friday, February 17, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Mark Cemetery, Jamestown.
Visiting hours Thursday, February 16, 2006, 4-8 p.m.
