Edna Schultz
NEWPORT - Edna Caswell Hill Schultz,

a longtime resident of Newport and Jamestown, RI, died on Friday, February 17, 2006 of natural causes.
She was the wife of the late Merton W.F. Schultz. They were married in 1946. Born in Portland, Maine,
she was a daughter of the late Fred and Katharine Caswell Hill.
A graduate of Westbrook Junior College, Westbrook, Maine
Edna served in Women's Marine Corp. during World War II from 1944-1946.She was known for being kind and fair to everyone she met and she was an absolute joy to be around. She often remarked that she was happy to have lived in the era she did. Her generation watched the United States fall into WWII and along the way she decided to take part. She chose to become a Marine, and being one was a proud achievement for her. She was well-educated and well-spoken. She published numerous articles in newspapers and magazines. In her final years one of her articles was published in the United States Naval Institute Magazine and she was also a guest speaker on the USS Constitution celebrating Women's History Month. They were both heartfelt honors. I know she will be happy to once again be with lost sons, family and friends so we should not tire in her absence. She was an unrelenting soul and will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
Edna is survived by one sister; four children; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport RI on Monday, February 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in Trinity Cemetery; East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
Donations may be made in her memory to Paws and Claws, 23 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown, RI 02835.
