Buck 60th Anniversary

Newport ~ Roger and Muriel Buck celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on June 3 at Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, Massachusetts. A dinner was hosted by their children, Brian Buck and wife Carol Trocki of Jamestown; Bruce Buck, wife Linda, their children, Mike and Karin Hill, and grandchildren, Sasha and Trevor, all of Crofton, Maryland; Sheila Gibson and son James, of Alexandria, Virginia; Kevin Buck, wife Robyn, and daughters, Alison and Emily, of Middletown. The Bucks’ grandsons and their wives, Paul and Julie Buck, with their son, Kai, David Buck and Julianne Krous, all came from Denver. Also attending the dinner were Captain and Mrs. Buck’s siblings and in-laws from Massachusetts. Sheila’s husband, Tom Gibson, and their daughter, Carolyn, were unable to attend.

The highlight of the dinner was the Bucks recreating a moment from their wedding reception at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis by cutting the dessert cake with Roger’s midshipman ceremonial sword, since passed on to son Bruce, who also graduated from the Academy.

The Bucks have been Newport, R.I., residents since 1965. Captain Buck retired from the Navy in 1976, worked for the State of RI on energy issues in various state offices, and upon retiring from the State, he served as an energy consultant and as the Executive Director of The Energy Council of Rhode Island from 1988 until 2004. Mrs. Buck has been the organist at Jesus Saviour Church since 1975, and never misses an opportunity to attend a musical event in the city. The Buck Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandson are joined in congratulating Roger and Muriel on their 60 years of marriage by their many friends throughout the world.
