PORTSMOUTH - Adelino Angelo Raposa,
85, of Union Street, Portsmouth, RI, died on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Briarcliff Manor, Johnston, RI.
Born in Middletown, RI on July 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Bento and Marianna (Medeiros) Raposa.
Mr. Raposa served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked his entire career in construction and was a member of Local #673 Laborers Union. Mr. Raposa was a past Grand Knight of the Christopher Rooney Council Knights of Columbus in Portsmouth, and past Chairman of the St. Barnabas Feast.
His daughter Lori E. Perry of Portsmouth, RI, and his son James A. Raposa of Williamsburg, VA, and one sister Amy Rebello of Fall River, MA, as well as four grandchildren and his former wife Edith Raposa Ponte of Portsmouth, RI survive him.
His brothers Manuel, Louis and David Raposa, and his sisters Gilda Fernandes, Clara Trifero, Mary Ripa, Rose Rodrigues, and Marianna Massed precede him in death.
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 9 a.m. from the Connors Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be in St. Columba's Cemetery in Middletown, RI.
